Help Re-build Uganda’s First Skatepark!
•August 9, 2009 • Leave a CommentA few months ago the original mini-ramp at the Kitintale Skatepark in Uganda was destroyed by heavy rains and flooding. We are trying to raise $2,000 to help the Ugandan skaters rebuild the ramp and continue to provide a positive place for a growing number of skaters. Your contribution will help tremendously!

About the Film
•April 19, 2009 • Leave a CommentIn many parts of the developing world, where kids often don’t have enough food to eat and lack resources to go to school, recreation opportunities are few and far between. With no assistance from government or large NGOs, and only a few foreign donors, kids from Uganda and Nicaragua took significant steps to overcome boredom and poverty through skateboarding. Built from the bottom up, the grassroots construction of these first skateparks engender a sense of pride and empowerment in each of these communities.
Over a two year period, filmmaker Nik Strong-Cvetich traveled to Uganda and Nicaragua to document the stories of each of these countries first skateparks. This film explores the hopes and challenges of each of these communities.
